Leslie Kean is an independent investigative journalist and author of the New York Times bestseller UFOs: Generals, Pilots, and Government Officials Go On the Record. Beginning with the landmark 2017 front-page New York Times story about a secret Pentagon UFO program, Leslie and Ralph Blumenthal have been contributing to The Times on the subject. Leslie's decades of UFO reporting was profiled in The New Yorker in 2021.

She helped produce the ongoing series "UFOs: Investigating the Unknown" (Nat Geo/VICE, 2025). Her award-winning 2017 book Surviving Death: A Journalist Investigates Evidence for an Afterlife was the basis for a six-part Netflix documentary series.

Leslie has presented at Rice University, American University, the Explorer’s Club, the Franklin Institute, and The Institute of Noetic Sciences. She has been interviewed by Ezra Klein (2023) and Steven Colbert (2010).
