Overview

The Anatoliama Inc. presents Léna, a new work by Grammy-nominated laouto virtuoso Vasilis Kostas.

The Anatoliama Inc. presents Léna, a new work by Grammy-nominated laouto virtuoso Vasilis Kostas, on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Brockton, MA. Presented as part of the Boston Byzantine Music Festival, a program of the Mary Jaharis Center for Byzantine Art and Culture, the concert reflects a shared commitment to preserving and advancing Byzantine and Greek traditional musical heritage.

Deeply rooted in the musical traditions of Epirus, Kostas reimagines the laouto as a compelling melodic voice, bridging centuries-old sounds with contemporary expression. The program will feature the world premiere of original compositions from his upcoming album Léna (April 2026), alongside selected traditional music from Epirus, honoring the rich heritage that continues to shape his artistic voice.

A central highlight of the evening is the participation of the Holy Cross St. Romanos the Melodist Byzantine Choir, directed by Fr. Romanos Karanos, whose profound interpretation of Byzantine chant brings a sacred and spiritual dimension to the performance.

Kostas will be joined by acclaimed artists Ian Ashby (upright bass), George Lernis (percussion), and guest cellist Naseem Alatrash.
