Leica Conversations: Jason Roman & the Leica SL3

Join us for a Leica Conversation with NY-based visual artist Jason Roman.

Jason will discuss the inspiration for his latest project: "Natives" and his experience working with the new Leica SL3 to create the series. Topics will include his thoughts on the camera's ergonomics and how advances in its autofocus system allowed him to capture his subjects.

In addition, he will share his thoughts on using both SL lenses and M lenses on the camera. Come prepared for insights and answers to your questions, as we will leave time for a Q&A at the end.

Jason Roman is a New York street photographer and cinematographer. Self-taught, he honed his craft in the streets, talking to and engaging with the world around him, never leaving the house without a camera around his neck. While the city served as his classroom, Jason's career has led him around the world photographing behind-the-scenes for tv and film, editorial spreads and advertising campaigns. Still, it is the NYC streets that provide his greatest inspiration and creative flow. Beyond creating art, Jason actively nurtures connections in the community and the industry and outside of that you can catch him feeding and photographing pigeons in Chinatown.

Equal parts, photographer, educator, and trainer, John can often be found, giving those interested in Leica products an opportunity to experience them in a real-life situation, during Pro Discovery Days, Leica Store events, and Akademie workshops, throughout the country.

An accomplished photographer, his ongoing obsession with capturing light and shadow started from an early age. He strives to move beyond the beautiful snapshot and create an image that evokes emotion in the viewer’s mind. Most recently, John’s work was selected to appear in the new book, “Inspiration Leica Akademie”.
