This session will explore how organizations of all sizes can successfully initiate and grow a legacy giving program. From understanding the basics of legacy giving to identifying the right prospects, this presentation provides practical tools to formalize your efforts, tell your story, and steward long-term relationships. This session will also highlight how the Springfield Foundation can support your work along the way.

Outcomes:

  • Define and communicate the value of legacy giving to donors and internal stakeholders.
  • Identify and engage donors most likely to make a legacy gift.
  • Launch a legacy society with essential elements like naming recognition, events, and stewardship tools.
  • Create passive and active communications that keep legacy giving top-of-mind.
  • Leverage partnerships and resources, including the Springfield Foundation, to strengthen and sustain their program.


ABOUT THE PRESENTERS

Sarah McPherson
Director of Marketing and Development
Springfield Foundation

Sarah McPherson is the Director of Marketing and Development at the Springfield Foundation, where she serves the community by connecting people to their charitable passions. Currently, Sarah is on the Board of the Women’s Partnership Fund, Friends of Hartman Rock Garden, and Springfield Rotary Club. Sarah previously worked at the Springfield Arts Council for nine years. She and her husband have two sons, who are three and two years old, and keep them very busy.
