About this event

  • 5 hours

USGBC will convene in Issaquah, Washington to host a local government summit aimed at expanding our LEED for Cities network and deepening engagement with local governments on a range of green building and sustainable development issues. This half-day event will provide a platform to share the new LEED for Cities & Communities rating system (adopted last summer) and engage local leaders in our organization’s diverse programs.

The target audience will include local government staff, including city and county planners, sustainability and resilience teams, building and facility managers, city/county managers, board and commission members, and elected officials; regional government agency staff and appropriate NGOs; and consultants that engage with local governments in the region.

Learning objectives:

  • Participants will understand the vision, mission, products and services offered by USGBC.
  • Participants will receive an overview of the LEED for Cities & Communities: Existing Cities v4.1 framework.
  • Participants will understand the value of internal leading by example policies as well as how LEED and LEED for Cities fit into their community-wide goals and plans.
  • Participants will know how to best utilize the expertise and resources of USGBC to advance their climate and sustainability goals.

Featured Speakers:

  • Hilari Varnadore, Vice President for Cities, USGBC
  • Isabella Gross, LEED for Cities Equity Fellow, USGBC
  • Leaders from Washington cities and counties (invited, TBD)
