📚 Lecture: “Music and the Art of Fear”

🎤 Speaker: Prof. Tom Rizzuto

Ever wonder why horror movies have such compelling soundtracks? Music evokes a range of emotions, but it particularly excels at amplifying fear. This lecture delves into the fascinating history of scary music, exploring how composers have crafted eerie sounds since the Classical era and possibly even earlier.

Prof. Tom Rizzuto will unravel the science behind why these musical elements resonate so deeply with us, creating an unforgettable experience. His expertise spans music history, guitar, and media at Molloy University and SUNY Old Westbury.

Dr. Rizzuto holds degrees in music education, musicology, and a doctorate in Educational Leadership for Diverse Learning Communities, emphasizing Music Education. His research examines the intersections between music and cultural shifts, and his work has been featured in publications such as Discovery Magazine, History Magazine, and the Rock and Roll Archaeology podcast. A native New Yorker, he currently resides on Long Island with his family.
