Description

We are pleased to announce a series of lectures devoted to the movements and artists in the 20th century American visual art. They will cover such topics as: Abstract Expressionism, American Art After Abstract Expressionism, American Female Artists and American Post-Modern Art. During the lectures you will learn how art works made by the representatives of a certain movement helped to define the course of modern and contemporary art. This may change your understanding of essence of art.

The idea lying behind the course of lectures is to provide a broader cultural, intellectual, and historical context about the decades after World War II, when the representatives of these movements were active (the life, work, and social and historical contexts of these artists). An in-depth look at the specific materials, techniques, and thinking of American artists, representing a certain movement, will be offered and discussed.

Lectures will be held in Russian and are open to anyone interested in learning more about history of American art.

Led by Konstantin Plotnikov, Ph.D. in Philology, Art Historian.
