LEARNING TO BRAVE

A 5Rhythms Movement | Dance Workshop with Anne Marie Hogya

How can we learn to brave?

By stepping forward and making room for our shakiness,

our trembling, and our doubt-

step by step, small by small.

Acts of brave increase our tolerance for being human,

and expand our potential to live the full range of

our expression, our emotions, and our aliveness.

We can all

Learn to Brave.

In this dance workshop we’ll exercise our courage. You’ll taste freedom and discover movement tools and inspiration to take what you learn and apply it in your daily life. Designed for adults of every age and ability, no experience is required.

About The 5Rhythms

The 5Rhythms™ is a body-based awareness practice created and developed by artist, theater director and author Gabrielle Roth. The practice centers around the idea that if you put the psyche in motion, it will heal itself. Movement is the medicine, the metaphor and the meditation. The 5Rhythms are: Flowing, Staccato, Chaos, Lyrical and Stillness™. Through progressive levels of discipline, The 5Rhythms practice leads to depth work in emotional, mental and spiritual embodiment. A combination of movement, music, dance, meditation, play, theater, ritual, individual, partner and group work are employed as embodied transformation tools.

Words from past participants about Learning to Brave:

“Anne Marie is a teacher with both heart and skill, steeped in her own deep practice of using movement as a gateway to personal growth and transformation; her teaching and presence are good medicine for the complex times we are living in u=individually and collectively.”

“The workshop was extraordinary in so may ways. I was able to drop into a ‘wild’ that I hadn’t tasted for a long time. The encouragement and verbal prompts to keep curious, keep exploring allowed radiant healing around truth to unfold.”

“The facilitation was grounding and extremely supportive. The group was remarkable in their cohesion and feeling of safety. The music was next level awesome.”

“Thank you, Anne Marie, for the graceful guidance and genuine care and compassion. For the elixir of music and movement from the heart…for the intensity and integrity that opened the door to set us free.”

“I want to thank you for being a shining light and powerhouse of wisdom. Listening to my energy and allowing it to flow has always been my greatest fear and yet my best practice- and you remind me and inspire me to keep doing this no matter what life brings. Grateful for you is an understatement.”

“It was FABULOUS!! I love the safe space you so graciously provide for us to explore who we are and what we need. I love when you say “Yes, just like that” and so I can be who I am in that very moment, as I do need encouragement to be my real self. I love how I am given the opportunity to weave my way through the workshop at a pace that is right for me. I love how the crescendo of the workshop builds and we land in a place of calm. I love the space between in stillness. I love how you enable each of us (with no judgement) to open up with our words to express what we may be going through. Thank you for this. What a great gift you have. The work that you do is so powerful!”

“Anne Marie models so clearly “bravery in action” with her ability to teach in a way that feels alive, spontaneous and truly “in the moment.” The Learning to Brave workshop experience brought me back into a deeply grounded sense of trust in my body wisdom and I experienced a reconnection with a deep trust and gratitude for myself, my ancestry and this ever-evolving existence we call life. Anne Marie’s articulation of how she “listens and follows” in words and embodiment is so fluid and filled with the present moment that it is easily observable, recognizable and good, good, medicine for us all!”
