First, attendees will learn introductory-level techniques for analyzing a dataset using Rstudio.cloud. Second, we will explore the social science concept of &quot;intersectionality&quot; using a real data set about racial discrimination in the US labor market. Finally, by reproducing a foundational paper (Bertrand and Mullainathan, 2004), we will better understand the process, constraints, and value of using Rstudio.cloud to teach coding concepts using examples from the social sciences. This may help attendees advance their understanding of open research practices, and also foster discussion about other opportunities to reproduce research to advance equality. PREREQUISITEAttendees will be asked to create a free Rstudio.cloud account; The workshop will be paced slowly to accommodate those new to R coding. Data set will be provided.
