ABOUT THE PROGRAM

In spring 2025, staff serving Lifelong Learning's Roots & Wings grant initiative completed an extensive literature review on the topic of intergenerational formation, worship, and children's spirituality.

Join this FREE webinar to hear what insights were gained during the literature review as well as the selections examined. You'll also get to know the leaders of this newest Lifelong Learning program and learn about its goals.

ABOUT ROOTS & WINGS

Roots & Wings Intergenerational Formation Collaborative is a five-year research project that will foster child-centered practices to help form Christian faith in children and spark renewal in congregations. It is funded by Lilly Endowment, Inc.

Sarah Bentley Allred, M.Div. (she/her) is the Project Director for Roots & Wings: Intergenerational Formation Collaborative. She is passionate about children’s spirituality, intergenerational worship, and small churches.

Sarah completed her M.Div. at Virginia Theological Seminary and joined the Department of Lifelong Learning in May 2019. Before seminary, Sarah served in children and youth ministry.

Sarah lives in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, with her spouse, Richard, daughter, Eleanor, and their dog Grace. She loves walking at the NC Botanical Garden, hosting “Tacos + Toddlers,” sipping lattes at local coffee shops, and listening to any and everything written/produced by historianand author Kate Bowler.




Jodi Belcher, Th.D. (she/her) is Lead Editor of Building Faith, Resource Development Specialist for the Mutual Ministry Initiative and Lifelong Learning, and Resource Developer for Roots & Wings: Intergenerational Formation Collaborative.

Jodi is a writer, educator, and lay Episcopalian who is passionate about justice-making and body-affirming faith formation. Before serving in her current roles with Lifelong Learning, she earned a Th.D. in theology at Duke Divinity School, taught in higher education, and directed Christian formation for all ages at an Episcopal parish.

Jodi also has written devotional reflections for Forward Day by Day. She lives in Durham, North Carolina with her family of five plus two cats.
