Learn to Batik at OSMM - make a holiday gift for you or a loved one!
Batik is a wax-resist dying technique.  Hot wax is applied to fabric as the resist, and dye is applied after the wax has cooled.  Once the dye is dry, the fabric is rinsed and cold wax is removed with heat, leaving the design intact.
In this class, you'll learn to apply the hot wax and colorful dyes, rinse, dry, and remove the wax resist.  You'll leave class with the item you've created. Ages 10 to adult are welcome for the class. The wax is very hot - younger participants must have an adult present, and patience and an awareness of tool safety is important. Tickets are $30 per person or $15 for OSMM members (members use promo code) in advance through Eventbrite.
