What ages is this class suitable for?

This class is suitable for ages 16+.

Question 2

Do I need to sign a liability waiver?

Accepted Answer

All visitors coming to Open Workshops for the first time must sign a liability waiver prior to entering the shop.  Attendees under the age of 18 must have a waiver signed by a parent or guardian.

What if I'm new to the subject?

Accepted Answer

We start at the basics of vector design, but experience with technical software is helpful. For the laser work, we recommend our Learn to Laser Cut and Engrave class as background or a next step to dive deep into laser cutting and engraving.

Question 4

Do I need a laptop for this class?

Accepted Answer

Yes, a laptop is required to follow along and create your own customized design.  Open Workshops has several loaner laptops available, but these are offered on a first-come, first-served basis, so we recommend you bring your own if you have one.

Question 5

How can I redeem my included acrylic and laser time?

Accepted Answer

Just stop by the makerspace any time during our open hours! We'll have your stock set aside and will help you set up and run the laser.  Additional acrylic can be purchased from us at wholesale cost.

How does the reduced-price registration work?

Accepted Answer

We’re happy to be able to offer a reduced-price tuition program, with the balance of the tuition paid by a generous grant from the Lei and Chen Family Foundation.
