The Burncoat Center for Arts and Wellness is an oasis for people of all ages who want to explore both their creative, and artistic potential and overall wellness of the body and mind. Burncoat Center for Arts and Wellness offers a collection of classes, programs, workshops, and once a month market days to draw the community together for arts, crafts, and mindfulness.The act of being creative can help decrease everyday stress and anxieties. Participating in the arts can also help with depression and increase positive emotions, and daily wellbeing. The added bonus?  If you create, or participate in a group yoga or meditation class, you will form supportive relationships and friendships in your community.Join us in one of our many classes at our new center!

Unleash your inner artist and carve out some creative fun at our Learn to Linocut workshop!

Have you been wanting to learn linocut, but not sure where to start? Maybe you’ve tried carving with the pink rubber but you just want a little more out of it. This is the class for you!While the methods for creating and printing your very own stamp is similar, the material used certainly isn’t. Linoleum is a harder material to carve, but the payoff is well worth it. Though extra care needs to be taken, you will be rewarded with more detail in your prints than rubber can provide.In this class, students will draw out and carve their own linoleum block or “linocut” to create prints from. We will cover how to carve, safety methods, materials, and then make some prints together. All materials are provided, however you may find thinking about or sketching out some ideas before coming to be helpful. We will be working on a piece of 4x6 linoleum.Class is $50/person and you can bring a friend for $40.Amanda is a working artist, BCAW team member, and owner of her own printmaking business, The Golden Foxxe. She truly does it all! With a passion for helping others discover their creative outlet, she’s dedicated to making the process fun, welcoming, and stress-free for everyone who walks through our doors.
