Karin Edwards is a Certified Advanced Rolfer in Southeast Portland with 18 years of experience. Karin has a blackbelt in Ki Aikido. She loves the process of unlocking the puzzle of each person's healing process.

<P><SPAN>Learn how your brain is wired to respond to danger, and how overwhelming experiences can cause us to get stuck in the danger-response mode. You'll understand the basic biological reasons for emotions and gain compassion for yourself and others.This class includes learning to feel how to monitor and consciously affect your own nervous system, as well as how to use mindfulness to heal trauma. This material is very relevant to yoga, Aikido and other martial arts, spirituality, and every type of personal growth work.</SPAN><BR><BR><SPAN>Past participants called this class "simple but life-changing" and "illuminating."  <SPAN>Appropriate for the public, yet also will have enough juicy information to be very relevant for practitioners of all types. <SPAN>(Note, this class is not intended to treat severe emotional trauma. Upon request, I can provide a referral to a trained therapist.)</SPAN></SPAN></SPAN><SPAN CLASS="text_exposed_show"><BR><BR>Based largely on the work of Peter Levine. At the library or Powell's, his books include Waking the Tiger, In an Unspoken Voice, and Trauma-proofing Your Kids.<BR></SPAN></P>

We also offer a movement-centric class called "Self-Care for the Nervous System: A Movement Exploration" which is happening May 27 3-4:30pm at Peoples. <P>No, just give your name when you arrive. </P>
<P><STRONG><STRONG>Is it ok if the name on my ticket or registration doesn't match the person who attends?</STRONG></STRONG></P>
<P>Yes, you can give your ticket to a friend to attend in your place. Just have them give your name at the door.  </P>
