Overview

A free community event for students looking for answers to questions about their futures. Keynote+interactive breakout rooms to meet mentors

Welcome to L.E.A.P.!

L.E.A.P. is a free community event for students looking for answers to questions about their futures.

The event is broken into two sections. First, we will feature a keynote speech by Ashley Olafsen, co-founder of MOVE and former Manager at the Harvard Innovation Labs. She will share her personal journey and the obstacles she overcame, challenges very similar to what students face today with the college process.

Next, students will have the opportunity to join interactive breakout rooms to address their specific questions and anxieties.

You can choose to meet with:

1. Flexible Paths to Success: Speak with Professor Juan Gnecco, who will share his story of feeling unsure about his path in life. His journey started at a community college, but as he discovered his passions, he unlocked a path that led him all the way to MIT!

2. Resilience & Merit Scholarships: Meet Juan Flechas-Beltran, a Tufts Biomedical Engineering PhD student and Army Officer. As an immigrant from Colombia, Juan achieved the ultimate goal: zero student debt. Thanks to winning multiple merit scholarships, he never paid out of pocket for his education. Come learn his exact strategies for winning scholarships so you can fund your own degrees.

3. College Applications and Major Selection: Speak with Kathleen Kehrer, founder of Kehrer College Advising and a former Director of Admissions at Boston College. With over 20 years of experience in higher education, she will answer your application-related questions and share strategies for choosing the right major.

4. Discover the Trades: Meet a member of the skilled trades to learn about alternative career paths.

We will have free food, merchandise, and raffles to participate in. We can't wait to see you there!
