Join us  to explore equity and the intersectionality of visible and invisible disabilities with race, gender, and other lived experiences.

LEAP SESSION: EQUITY AND INTERSECTIONALITYPeri Jude Radecic, CEO, Disability Rights PA and Imani Barbarin, Director of Communications and Outreach , Disability Rights PA Peri Jude and Imani will offer their experience and perspective on equity for people with disabilities, opportunities for organizations and communities to create a more equitable and accessible reality for everyone, and the intersectionality of visible and invisible disabilities with race, gender, and other lived experiences.  Purpose: Attendees will have a greater understanding of invisible and visible disabilities, how disability rights and experience intersect with race, socioeconomic realities, gender, and sex, why it matters to consider how our spaces and practice are or aren’t accessible to everyone, and opportunities to implement equity.  <h3>Acerca de este evento</h3>Únase a nosotros para explorar la equidad y la intersección de las discapacidades visibles e invisibles con la raza, el género y otras experiencias vividas.SESIÓN LEAP: EQUIDAD E INTERSECCIONALIDADPeri Jude Radecic, Directora General de Disability Rights PA e Imani Barbarin, Directora de Comunicaciones y Divulgación, Disability Rights PAPeri Jude e Imani ofrecerán sus experiencias y perspectivas sobre la equidad para las personas con discapacidad, las oportunidades para que las organizaciones y las comunidades creen una realidad más equitativa y accesible para todos, y la interseccionalidad de las discapacidades visibles e invisibles con la raza, el género y otras experiencias vividas. Objetivo: Los asistentes comprenderán mejor las discapacidades invisibles y visibles, cómo los derechos y la experiencia de la discapacidad se entrecruzan con la raza, las realidades socioeconómicas, el género y el sexo, por qué es importante considerar cómo nuestros espacios y prácticas son o no son accesibles para todos, y las oportunidades para aplicar la equidad. Fecha y horaVie, 13 de agosto, 202112:00 PM – 1:30 PM EDTUbicación: Evento en líneaPeri Jude Radecic has three decades of passion and advocacy in civil rights with a focus in the areas of disability, gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (LGBT), and women’s rights. She has extensive experience with all functions and branches of government in the development, implementation and judicial review of civil rights laws and regulations. Peri Jude has worked as a community organizer in Montgomery County, Maryland for women and the LGBT, the National Organization for Women, and the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force. Following law school, she drafted changes to the Civil Rights Ordinance and wrote policies to ensure effective implementation of local minority and business development programs for the City of Tucson. As the State Civil Rights Manager for Rural Development, she was responsible for the implementation of federal civil rights laws within the agency as well as with recipients of federal funds. Prior to joining DRP, Peri Jude was the Executive Director of the Arizona Center for Disability. Peri Jude was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh and the University of Arizona College of Law.Imani Barbarin is a communications professional, writer, blogger, public speaker, and social media advocate hailing from the Philadelphia area. A graduate from Eastern University for Undergrad and of the Masters in Global Communications program at the American University of Paris, she uses her skills to advocate for the representation, inclusion and empowerment of disabled people at the intersections of race and gender.
