Welcome to Lead's Hidden Treasure Heritage Festival! Join us on Friday, June 21, 2024 and Saturday, June 22, 2024 for a weekend to celebrate and learn the vibrant history of Lead, South Dakota.

Organized by Lead Historic Preservation and sponsored the South Dakota Humanities Council, South Dakota Historical Society, South Dakota Arts Council, and the City of Lead, this event promises an enriching experience for all.

Celebrating the multicultural history of Lead, the festival will feature exhibits showcasing the early Italian community, represented by images and artifacts. The legacy of the 16 Homestake superintendents will be on display along with images, stories and newspaper articles, providing a glimpse into time with Homestake.

Discover the hidden gems of Lead as we celebrate our heritage with live music, Italian heritage events, kids games, and interactive exhibits. Don't miss out on this unique opportunity to explore our Leads rich history and uncover its hidden treasures. See you there!

What if the Taste of Italy event is full?

Sorry, we are limited at 30 participants for this event, please plan to attend our annual event in 2025 and get signed up early.

Do I have to have a team for trivia?

Trivia teams are limited to 6 person teams.

Can I spectate at trivia?

YES! There is a $5 cover charge for the trivia event to help with the event cost but spectating is encouraged to see who knows the most Homestake trivia!

The Hidden Treasure Heritage Festival is a yearly event that celebrates the colorful history of Lead and Homestake. Organized by Lead Historic Preservation and sponsored the South Dakota Humanities Council, South Dakota Historical Society, South Dakota Arts Council, and the City of Lead, this event promises to be an enightening and fun experience for all.

The 2024 Heritage Festival celebrates the early Italian community and the legacy of the 16 Homestake superintendents, starting with the esteemed William Farrish, appointed by none other than George Hearst himself.
