PEACH is a community-based lead-based paint andhealthy homesenvironmental agency. Themissionof PEACH is to improve community health and economics by creating a sustainable workforce to reduce environmental hazards. PEACH’svisionis that every child will grow up in an environmentally safe home where the household income is above the poverty level.

The Partnership Effort for the Advancement of Children's Health (PEACH) is partnering with NC Central University to host a half-day information and education workshop targeting community members who live in, who own, and/or who renovate, repair, and paint, residential properties and child-care facilities built before 1978. This year's workshop follows a series of community town hall events held between October 2017 - October 2018 and monthly meetings with the Durham County Health Director held from Jan 2019-April 2019. In May of 2019, a situational assessment summarizing, among other issues, the NC regulatory enforcement requirements; and that also included recommendations to transition Durham towards primary prevention policies were presented to the Joint City/County elected officials. The workshop is an opportunity for the community to learn more about lead-based paint hazards and to learn about the proposed recommendations and to hear more about ways PEACH will work with NCCU and North East Central Durham (NECD) to implement recommendations for lead poisoning prevention. Lunch will be provided.
