American Center for Life Cycle Assessment (ACLCA)

This course is designed to provide participants with a foundational understanding of life cycle assessment (LCA).

This course is for students and professionals who want or need to get a concise overview of the basic principles and terminology in LCA from beginning to end, explore examples from industry, and would love a chance for open Q&amp;A with a senior LCA professional who has been doing LCA all day, every day for the past 13 years for a multitude of clients and industries.The course will be highly interactive and include time for discussion and Q&amp;A. Slides will be provided to all course attendees. The class will run 5-hours (10am - 3pm) with a one-hour lunch break (12-1).

Instructor:Christoph Koffler, is the Technical Director of sphera. In this role he is responsible for the quality of all North American consulting projects, technical development, project oversight, and in key selected areas, such as Automotive, as primary lead. Chris received his Doctorate degree in Engineering from the Darmstadt University of Technology in 2007. His PhD dissertation was on Automotive Product Life Cycle Assessment. He has published and reviewed numerous papers in the Life Cycle Assessment field and is a member of the SETAC Global LCA Coordinating Group, the American Center for Life Cycle Assessment (ACLCA) Board of Directors, as well as the ASQ Technical Advisory Group (TAG 207) on Environmental Management which represents the US in the advancement of the relevant ISO standards such as ISO 14040, ISO 14044, and ISO 14025.
