If you have never experienced being childlike in the moment with others .. well .. you may find yourself a bit skeptical of using laughter in healing. And yet there has been quite a bit of research on this topic. Laughter has been proven to help decrease anxiety, stress, and depression, while increasing quality of life. In fact, laughter can actually alter dopamine and serotonin activity in your brain. It also works the core muscles so you are getting quite a physical work-out too.
Whether you sit in a chair, lay on the floor or stand and start laughing it is not possible to take yourself seriously. Set aside the serious adult and take time to experience childlike joy. Allow yourself to be in the moment.
