About the speaker:

Sharon Tilley is a Consultant Physiotherapist and recently retired Principal at the Lymphoedema & Laser Therapy clinic in Adelaide. Together with Flinders University, this clinic undertook inaugural research investigating the effects of photobiomodulation (low level laser) therapy on breast cancer-related lymphoedema in 1995.

In 1989, while working in the position of Senior Physiotherapist at the Royal Darwin Hospital, she began using PBM in the area of hand rehabilitation and wound management. Since 2000, together with her 5 staff physiotherapists, she has predominantly worked in the area of post cancer rehabilitation, and the clinic makes use of over 11 lasers in clinical practice.

She has been published in the UK Journal of Lymphoedema, and has presented for, and held Board positions within the Australian Physiotherapy Association, the Australasian Lymphology Association (ALA) and the Australian Medical Photobiomodulation Association (AMPA). She has presented workshops on the use of laser in lymphoedema and post cancer treatment management at several ALA and AMPA conferences, the World Association Of Laser Therapy (WALT) conference in Washington DC, and in teaching facilities in Hong Kong. She has developed a 3-part online training module encompassing the safety and clinical application of PBM for therapists.

For the last 5 years she has also been part of a research team investigating the use of PBM in the management of Parkinsons Disease.
