ABOUT THE PRESENTER

Linda Villadóniga received a Masters in Education from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies in Monterey, California. She began her teaching career at the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, CA where she taught military personnel who would be stationed in a Spanish-speaking country. After moving to Florida, Linda began teaching at St. Augustine High School where she was also department chair as well as chair of the Advanced International Certificate of Education Program under the direction of the University of Cambridge, United Kingdom. She also taught at Creekside High School, St. Johns River State College, Daytona Beach State College and Flagler College until she retired. Linda was the first teacher in NE Florida to become an NBCT. She has been named Florida Teacher of the Year by the Florida Foreign Language Association and received the Irving Wershow Award, the highest honor a teacher in Florida can receive. Since retiring Linda has continued to be active in the WL field. She has served as President of the Florida Foreign Language Association and the Florida Chapter of AATSP, where she still serves as Conference Coordinator, State Poster Contest Coordinator and Editor of the (mostly) weekly, La Voz, the newsletter of the Chapter. Besides belonging to the associations, she is also a member of Asociación Europea de Profesores de Español. She has presented locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally.
