Speakers:

Susan Lukens PT, MS, DPT

Susan has served over thirty years in the outpatient clinical setting facilitating inter-disciplinary, multi-site teamwork. She has led fiscal and corporate based strategic planning, physician relations and facility/clinic design and construction. Dr. Lukens is currently the Director of Outpatient Rehabilitation for UF Health Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Florida, which is recognized as one of the Southeast’s leading medical centers and one of the nation’s top hospitals according to U.S. News & World Report. Presently she oversees 13 locations, covering clinical specialties from pediatrics to geriatrics and everything in between. Dr. Lukens oversees a multi-million-dollar budget and multidisciplinary programming, including Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Language Pathology, Fitness & Wellness and Cardiac Rehab. In 1990, Susan received her BS in Kinesiology from the University of Colorado, Boulder while completing an internship in Athletic Training. She went on to earn her MS in Physical Therapy in 1992 from the University of Colorado, Health Sciences Center. A lifelong learner, Susan completed her transitional doctorate in Physical Therapy in August of 2020 from the College of Saint Scholastica. Susan is active in the Florida Physical Therapy Association and is currently serving her second term as a Northern District assembly representative.


David Wessells, PT, MHA, FACHE

David Wessells currently serves as the Vice President of Homecare Services at Nationwide Children’s Hospital where he has worked for the past 9 years. David has experience managing multi-site teams including strategic planning, financial management, physician relations, recruitment, expansion planning/building design, and billing/coding. David graduated with BS in Psychology in 1997 from University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, obtained his Master of Physical Therapy from Northwestern University in 1999, and his MHA from Ohio University in August, 2018. David earned his Fellowship of the American College of Healthcare Executives in 2020. As a faculty member for the LAMP Leadership Academy, David teaches leadership skills nationally to healthcare professionals. David has been active in healthcare advocacy, previously serving as the Federal Affairs Liaison for the Ohio chapter of the APTA, and as a member of the OPTA State Affairs Committee. David also currently serves as the Vice President of the Ohio Physical Therapy Association.

Learning Objectives:

1. Identify and discuss personal characteristics of adaptive and transformational leaders.

2. Determine how to promote a vision and strategies that others will follow.

3. Generate strategies to lead highly effective teams and foster followership.

4. Model effective team decision making strategies.

Non-employee/On-call Therapist Cancellation policy:

Cancellations received at least five or more working days before the event are refundable, minus a $20 administrative charge per registrant. There is no refund for cancellations received less than five working days before the start of course. A refund or voucher will be issued to any participant who is registered to attend a seminar that is cancelled by Centrex Rehab.

Centrex Employee Cancellation Policy:

  1. Centrex requires a one month cancellation notice from any registered employee.
  2. Centrex will allow one emergency cancellation per employee every 2 years without penalty (i.e. you or family member is sick, car died, etc.)
  3. Any no show or cancellation without proper notice and beyond the one allowed emergency cancellation will be subject to a cancellation fee as follows:

• $50 for any course with a cost of up to $400

• $75 for any course with a cost between $401 and $1,000

• $150 for any course with a cost of over $1,000

You do not need to bring a ticket to the course with you.
