FAQs

How long is the tour?

The trolley ride is 45-60 minutes, followed by a 15-minute tour inside Lakewood's historic Memorial Chapel.

Is the trolley ADA accessible?

Yes. If you need wheelchair access, please email events@lakewoodcemetery.org to let us know so we can make sure accommodations are available when you arrive.

Where do we meet?

Trolley passengers meet outside Lakewood's historic Memorial Chapel. Directional signs will be posted. For GPS directions, this link opens in Google Maps.

What is the difference between a free ticket and adding on an optional donation? There is no difference in terms of your your experience. Donations to the Lakewood Heritage Foundation help support educational programming and the preservation and restoration of Lakewood's landscape, art, architecture and public spaces — for the benefit of all.

What transportation and parking options do I have?

Parking (free) is available along all roads inside the cemetery. Metro Transit lines 6 and 23 stop near Lakewood's front gates at 36th & Hennepin Avenue, about 1-2 blocks away from the chapel. If you arrive by bicycle, lock your bike at the rack near the front gates and walk to the chapel.

Where are the restrooms?

Before and after the trolley ride, single-stall restrooms are available inside the chapel. Accessible restrooms are available in the Garden Mausoleum (open 10 am-4:30 pm), located about 2 blocks from the chapel.

What if I need to cancel?

If your plans change and you cannot make it, please let us know by emailing events@lakewoodcemetery.org or calling 612-540-5165. Seats are limited and we greatly appreciate your courtesy to release unused seat so others may enjoy the experience.
