The Lake Fork Earth & Sky Center is an active wildlife corridor, protected by a conservation easement. Please respect the pristine quality of this International Dark Sky Park by adhering to the following rules:

Campground Rules

  1. Camp and park within campsite boundaries
  2. Stay on trail
  3. Foot traffic only on trails (no bikes or motors)
  4. Pets must be leashed at ALL times
  5. Pick up after your pet - Yes, it's a forest, but people still walk around here and pet poop impacts wildlife (scent).
  6. Pack out ALL trash
  7. Do not feed or interact with wildlife (inlcuding birds)
  8. Leave no trace, take only pictures (except for pre-cut firewood, you will easily be able to tell what is pre-cut firewood)
  9. Use only red light flashlights after dark
  10. Absolutely NO trailers or vehicles longer than 20'. The campgound is designed and built for tent camping.

The cost is $30 per site for 2 nights. Due to the event being a 2-day event, there is not an option for a single night reservation.

Each campsite has the following amenities:

  • One parking space for vehicles up to 20' in length - Additional parking for 1 extra vehicle (max) can be purchased for $10. Do not park on the road in front of your campsite (this is for emergency vehicle access)
  • One picnic table
  • Bearproof locker
  • Fire ring (some firewood is available to gather on site (donation recommended) but it might be wet. If you really want to have a fire, it might be wise to bring your own wood).
  • Tent space for 1 large tent (4-6 person) 2 medium tents (2-4 person) 4 small tents (single person – we recommend no more than 4 adults per campsite.

There is a shared toilet at the south end of the site between the capground and the yurt.

There is NO potable water, electricity, or trash services available at the campround. Please PACK IT IN, PACK ITOUT.

The Lake Fork Earth & Sky Center is located at 2700 Hwy 149, Lake City, CO 81235.

From Lake City, drive south on highway 149 for about 2 miles. Drive past the Lake San Cristobal turnoff and take the first right AFTER crossing the Lake Fork of the Gunnison River. It will appear as if you are entering the Woodlake RV Park, but you will veer left before entering the Woodlake RV Park on a 2-track road that takes you past a dead-end sign. The Earth & Sky Center entrance will be directly ahead.
