ABSTRACT:


The presentation will discuss best practices for preparing and performing field testing related to windows, window walls, curtainwalls and including air barriers. Various test procedures will be discussed, and guidance on how to achieve the most effective testing protocol based on the extensive experience of the presenters ranging from testing various fenestration systems, but also forensic evaluations identifying probable cause(s) of failure.

PRESENTERS:

 

Tim Quast - CEO, Matt Wendland – Vice President,  & Jeff Zibton – Project Manager, Quast Consulting & Testing, Inc.

 

Mr. Quast is responsible for the startup management and customer support of Quast Consulting and Testing, Inc. (QCT). Mr. Quast has extensive experience in the primary performance testing of exterior facades and fenestration. This experience extends both in the laboratory and on-site/field testing environments. His experience includes field testing, forensic/diagnostic testing, laboratory mock-up erection and testing, field quality control inspections, and design/calibration of test equipment utilized in the primary performance testing of fenestration.

 

Mr. Wendland has 13 years of fenestration testing experience beginning in 2006. He began his career as a field testing technician working directly with Mr. Tim Quast, who served as his mentor. Matt studied business management at Northcentral Technical College in central Wisconsin where he attended accelerated courses while working full time. Prior to QCT, Matt worked at an insulated glass manufacturer where he was the floor supervisor. He participated in the development of the QCT Field Testing Crew and is responsible for their day-to-day operations and business development.

 

Mr. Zibton entered the fenestration industry after 11 years in general construction. In his 16 years in the building envelope arena, he has extensive experience with product, mock-up, and field testing, and also worked as a façade consultant. Currently, he oversees the physical thermal validation testing, development of project Label Certificates, as well as the coordination and execution of project specific thermal analysis. He is an NFRC Certified Simulator, NFRC ACE, NFRC IRC, and Member of the NFRC Fenstar Verification Policy Advisory Group.
