LA Rabbis Teach

One of our country’s most highly respected Reform congregations, Wilshire Boulevard Temple has been responding to the needs of the Los Angeles Jewish community since our founding in 1862 as Congregation B’nai B'rith, the first synagogue in Los Angeles.Today, Wilshire Boulevard Temple is many things: a center for Jewish spirituality and celebration, a place for lifelong learning and friendship, and an engaged congregation where every person makes a difference. We have three locations to serve our families: our historic Erika J. Glazer Family Campus in Wilshire Center/Koreatown, our modern Audrey and Sydney Irmas Campus in West Los Angeles, and our inviting University Campus in Brentwood. Wilshire Boulevard Temple offers services and worship, adult programs, life cycle events, volunteer and social action opportunities, cultural events, and learning to its members. Many of our cultural activities are open to the wider public.

Rabbi Daniel Bouskila: Voices from the East: Exploring the World of Sephardic Judaism
Tuesday, March 20   7:30-8:45 p.m.
Rabbi Bouskila, former Senior Rabbi of the Sephardic Temple Tifereth Israel, is the Director of the Sephardic Educational Center, an international educational and cultural organization dedicated to teaching the history, culture and philosophy of Sephardic Judaism. He also teaches Talmud at both the Academy of Jewish Religion and Shalhevet High School.
Rabbi Amy Bernstein: Slavery, Sedition, and Seduction: The Women of Exodus Tuesday, April 17  7:30-8:45 p.m.
Rabbi Bernstein is the Senior Rabbi of Kehillat Israel Reconstructionist Congregation of Pacific Palisades, the largest Reconstructionist Synagogue in the world. She serves as a Vice President of the Board of Rabbis of Southern California and is a member of the Jewish and LGBTQ Leadership Council.
Rabbi Steve Leder: A Jewish View on Suffering and Transformation Tuesday, May 15      7:30-8:45 p.m.
Rabbi Leder is the Senior Rabbi of Wilshire Boulevard Temple, as well as an author, professor and scholar.  He received the Louis Rappaport Award for Excellence in Commentary by the American Jewish Press Association and the Kovler Award from the Religious Action Center in Washington  D.C.  His latest book, More Beautiful Than Before: How Suffering Transforms Us is on several best seller lists. Newsweek Magazine twice named him one of the ten most influential rabbis in America.
