Healing Art Event at the Herbert Von King Park Amphitheatre

Join us on Saturday, October 23rd, for an evening festival of art and spirituality to benefit the community of Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn. Located at Herbert Von King Park, “La Llamada" ("The Call") will bring together a diverse group of Brooklyn-based artists, musicians and activists for a night of restorative healing, using sound and light work to create an atmosphere of relaxation and meditation. The stress of the last few years has affected the wellbeing, mental health and immune system of our people, and this festival is a space to begin repairing ourselves. The location, Herbert Von King Park is intentional: by gathering in a public space, we wish to make this event open and accessible to all, and to support the city’s public infrastructure. In addition, the park’s amphitheater is a hidden acoustic gem in Brooklyn.

4pm Meridian Body Flow Julie Vincent is a Yoga teacher and Shiatsu practitioner. Her practice is based on the use of breathing techniques and body alignment to promote the flow of energy KI (life force) throughout the body to feel more grounded, relaxed and balanced.

5pm Justine Lee HooperFlutist, singer, and visual artist, Justine Lee Hooper (she/they) covers the music of Soul greats, Black spirituals, and meditative improvisations over live looped beats. 6pm Camilla Padgitt-Coles (she/they) is a Brooklyn-based multimedia artist whose creations build on light, sound, and color in real-time. For La Llamada, they will perform with crystal singing bowls, tubular bells, tuning forks, and electronic drones. 7pm Agua viva Agua Viva is a music project created by Josi Arias expressing the mysteries of dreamy landscapes through timeless pop songs, dream revelations and spells. Valeria Divinorum (Crystal Lights) Her work focuses on stained-glass sculptural objects which she uses as a lens to experiment with the intangible properties of light. A major theme in Valeria’s work is the human connection with nature and the organic expressions that emerge from that relationship.
