About this event

  • 7 hours 30 minutes

Krumware workshop days are in-depth developer and operator-centric workshops designed to give teams the hands-on skills they need to deploy and manage cloud-native applications. Please join us for this exclusive and in-person workshop day! We will have staff and helpers on-hand to assist you as you learn to build, secure, and deploy cloud-native applications on Kubernetes.

Content is entirely based on open-source software solutions.

Krum's technical experts will deliver the content and aim to educate anyone interested in learning how to use containers and Kubernetes.

Jumpstart Cloud-Native

We will work together to set up our cloud-native infrastructure and platform, with platform tools such as Rancher, NeuVector, Tetragon and Cilium. We will deploy these tools into infrastructure you may choose to keep running past the event. Additionally, clone and keep the repositories and tools of your choosing.

Tickets

Tickets for this event include up to a team of 4 people. (feel free to come as an individual, 2, 3, or 4!)

Ticket proceeds help cover venue, travel, labor, and catering costs. Our partners help us with these costs and receive vouchers for tickets they can distribute.

For a waived or discounted ticket voucher, please get in touch with your representative at one of the presenting partners, SUSE, CIVO, and Isovalent. We're happy to put you in touch if you do not already have one, so please feel free to reach out via our contact page at https://www.krum.io/contact

Bring Your Own App

The second half of the day is facilitated collaboration. Work together with engineers from the presenting companies and other teams to move an application into the environment created in the Jumpstart.

Everyone's application workloads are different, but containers allow us to isolate and manage these workloads together. We will work together to containerize and deploy your applications with kubernetes, and help shortcut learning and adoption time. Feel free to connect and collaborate with other teams, and expand the learning footprint!

REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED FOR ATTENDANCE

This is an in-person event with limited seating. Additionally, we may ask for additional technical information for Bring-Your-Own-App events to make certain we have appropriate expertise staffed and examples prepared for supporting your team.

This in-person event will have extras including:

  • In-person experts from Krumware and engineers from the tools and projects used will give hands-on help with the workshops and provide additional knowledge and support.
  • Lunch, drinks, and snacks are included
  • A special after-event social, TBA

This session will cover

  • Kubernetes cluster deployment
  • Installation and Configuration of the Kubernetes orchestrator, Rancher
  • Cloud-native tools
  • Application migration and deployment concepts

What you will take home

Keep your work. We don't want you to have to recreate anything you have done during this workshop. With the exception of infrastructure costs, the tools we have used are open-source software. Take your work home, keep it running, and show it off.

Requirements

Attendees should have a basic working knowledge of Docker or other OCI-compliant container tool, such as Rancher Desktop.

Technical requirements
Based on feedback from prior events, we ask that attendees take into account the following requirements:
Network-based developer environments will be provided if an attendees machine permissions prohibit the optional requirements, but please let us know in the pre-event questionnaire if the environment needs to be provided.
