Description

KPBS and The Book Catapult invite you to celebrate the launch of "Device," a new KPBS Explore Project podcast.

"Device" is a monthly book chat about the scientific plausibility of intriguing literary novels. In each episode, host Emily T. Griffiths, along with guests from San Diego’s scientific community, will critically review one book and analyze the scientific integrity in the author’s decision to use scientific phenomena as a plot device to progress the story plot.

Listen to the first episode here. The show is available now for download on iTunes, Spotify, Google Play and other podcast players.

Join us at The Book Catapult on April 23 for complimentary light appetizers and a unique book club experience.

Derrick Acosta, co-producer of "Device," will be reading the very short story by Terry Bisson called "They're Made Out Of Meat." After the reading, Emily will host a short paenl discussion on the scientific topics the story brought up.

Emily will be joined by a panel of both scientific and literary experts who will help her mull the plausibility of the plot device. That's where you come in! We hope you'll join the conversation and ask our panel questions about the story or the podcast.

The Book Catapult is a proud sponsor of the "Device" podcast. Click here to sign up for the bookstore's email list.
