Readings by the incredible <a href="https://twitter.com/yiiiiwei" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Yi Wei</a>, <a href="https://www.ayesharaees.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Ayesha Raees</a>, and<a href="https://madeleinemori.persona.co/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer"> Madeleine Mori</a>. We will be hosting an Open Mic after the performances. In addition to your ticket, we require a 1 drink minimum for all guests 🥂 We&#x27;re grateful for your support, which allows us to continue to host and promote minority writers through our reading series. ____👾 What is the <a href="https://www.koukash.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">KOUKASH REVIEW</a>? A new indie literary magazine featuring Pan-Arab, South West Asian / North African voices. We are <a href="https://swanaalliance.com/about" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">SWANA</a> in all our brilliant hues: brown, black, gold, camouflaged in your white suburb or peppered like stop signs within your city. Middle East? More like Middle of the World. Cradle of Civilization, baby. We&#x27;re alien, indigenous, diasporic, nostalgic, permanent. Whether abroad or at home, we carry old conquests within us, alongside our glorious revolutions.Shes, gays, theys, and all marginal writers (from all continents and backgrounds) are especially encouraged to <a href="https://koukash.submittable.com/submit" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">submit their poetry, prose, and essays</a>. We are currently accepting work for our premier issue and we&#x27;d love for you to be a part of our beginnings. We won&#x27;t tolerate hate in any form, so please arrive ready to respect the readers and the venue 🙏 ____Yi Wei is a first generation Chinese writer with a BA in Asian American Studies and English from Swarthmore College. She currently serves as the Assistant Flash Fiction Editor at the Asian American Writers’ Workshop. Yi has been awarded the Lois Morrell Poetry Prize and is the third place winner for the 2021 Sappho Prize for Women Poets. Her work can be found in Palette Poetry, Lantern Review, and Crosswinds. She&#x27;s currently a Writer in the Public Schools fellow at NYU&#x27;s MFA in poetry.Ayesha Raees identifies herself as a hybrid creating hybrid poetry through hybrid forms. Her work strongly revolves around issues of race and identity, G/god and displacement, and mental illness while possessing a strong agency for accessibility, community, and change. Raees currently serves as an Assistant Poetry Editor at AAWW&#x27;s The Margins and has received fellowships from Asian American Writers&#x27; Workshop, Brooklyn Poets, and Kundiman. Her work has been published in Poets.org, Nation, Gulf Coast, and elsewhere. From Lahore, Pakistan, she currently shifts around Lahore, New York City, and Miami. Her debut hybrid book of poetry &quot;Coining A Wishing Tower&quot; won the Broken River Prize hosted by Platypus Press and is forthcoming in March 2022. Madeleine Mori is a Japanese American poet, born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area. She earned a BS in winemaking from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and an MFA from New York University. Her work has appeared or is forthcoming in jubilat, DIAGRAM, the American Poetry Review, The Yale Review, The Common, and The Margins, among others, and has received fellowships from the Community of Writers and the Asian American Writers’ Workshop, where she was a 2021 Margins Fellow. She is the Poetry Editor at Pigeon Pages and lives in Brooklyn.-- In order to qualify for the open mic, please make sure: 1. You arrive on time! 2. Have your ticket from Eventbrite ready 3. Sign up at the event4. Keep your performance under 3 minutes5.
