Come observe these fluorescent, red fish as they spawn. Every year, salmon migrate at Sheep Creek and other tributaries during September and October. You will be witnessing a natural wonder!
What to expect:
- Hundreds of beautiful salmon migrating at Sheep Creek.
- DWR biologists on hand to answer questions and give you an up-close look at the fish.
- The beautiful interpretive trail that participants can stroll through.
- Possible sightings of bighorn sheep, turkeys and other wildlife.
- Signs leading you to the event location.
- A self-guided tour as you drive the Flaming Gorge Scenic Byway of wildlife and geological history through the “Travelstory’s” app.
What to bring:
- Cameras for pictures at this family-friendly event.
- Binoculars so you can see the kokanee salmon easier.
- The “Travelstory’s” app on your smartphone. Be sure and download it before embarking on your journey as service along the byway may vary.
This free event will be held on Saturday, Sept. 17, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the first bridge in the Sheep Creek Geological Loop, just off Highway 44, north of Manns Campground.
