This course will provide an overview of the Interactional Supervision model by Lawrence Schulman. Participants will learn about the key tenets of the supervision model, discuss applications to Creative Arts Therapy supervision, and explore ways of using the creative arts with supervisees at each stage of the supervision process.

Learning Objectives: Participants will be able to…


  1. describe the central importance and function of supervision, viewing supervision as a profession “in its own right”. (CBMT BCD V.B.21)*


  1. discuss the key elements of the Interactional Supervision model and its application in creative arts therapy supervision. (CBMT BCD V.B.21)


  1. integrate an understanding of legal, ethical, and inter and intra cultural supervision into the practice of supervision. (CBMT BCD V.B.2,3,9,10,11)


  1. develop one creative arts method they could use with a supervisee within this model. (CBMT BCD V.B.21)

11:00-12:30 - Introduction to the Interactional Supervision Model: Part Two

1:30-2:30 - Small group discussion and creative expression

2:30-4:00 - Sharing creative expressions and discussion

4:00-4:15 - Closing and Evaluations
