ABOUT THIS SHOW

Kith + Kin Chorus, a 76-voice uncommon choir led by Rachel Ries, celebrates the close of their 7th season with a choral collaboration with local luminary Humbird, plus arrangements of Queen, Kasey Musgraves, Fleetwood Mac, Tina Turner and more.

Proceeds from the show and silent auction support the work of Raíces Sagradas, an organization that accompanies immigrants in healing from trauma through culturally sensitive professional psychotherapy services.

KITH + KIN

Kith + Kin Chorus is an uncommon community choir in the Twin Cities, open to singers of all skill levels, and 76 singers strong. If you can match a pitch and carry a tune, you can join! Voices are the original instrument and few things are more unifying than voices, raised together in song.

Led by founder Rachel Ries (of Her Crooked Heart), K+K Chorus aims to nurture a welcoming, joyful environment where anyone who longs to sing in a choir again (or for the first time!) can. Singers aren't required to be able to read music or have theory training. Songs are taught with the help of sheet music and reference recordings. The song material is a wide, secular mix of classic & indie rock, pop, folk and whatever else inspires, arranged by Rachel and members of the choir.
K + K Chorus gives back to the Twin Cities community by holding a fundraising concert at the end of each season, proceeds of which go to local organizations that strive to make our Cities better, safer, healthier places for all. Over the course of 6 seasons they've raised $35,000 for local organizations like RECLAIM!, Women of Nations' Eagle's Nest Shelter, Spare Key, Open Arms and CAPI.
Let’s fill this hurting world with harmony!

HUMBIRD

Songs, at their best, reflect something of where we are, where we've been, or where it is we're going. Sometimes all at once, right when we need it.
Humbird makes music in pursuit of exactly this phenomenon. With deep roots in the midwest heartland, Humbird also travels like a bramble, fusing experimental folk and environmental Americana genres in a mosaic of theaters, clubs, gardens, festivals, barns, caves, and other strange locations. Siri Undlin, the songwriter behind the moniker, forges an explorative embodiment of the narrative folk song and balladry tradition for these modern times, inviting a whole host of collaborators and listeners to add and expand the music.
