Event description
Join MetroLab Network to talk about how we might employ our skills regarding big data to support local efforts around COVID-19.

About this Event

We talk about big data a ton, but not always in the context of emergency response. How can we leverage the power of big datasets to help with crisis response--and crisis recovery? What kinds of data might we combine to help address emergency response needs? What aspects of data merging, storage, and privacy might we be able to provide guidance on? We’ll come together to discuss these and related topics with the hope of producing guidance we can share with our local government partners.

Join MetroLab Network for a Kitchen Table Talk--a small, informal discussion (maybe even from your own kitchen table). During this Kitchen Table Talk, we will share:

  • examples of datasets that might be leveraged in emergency situations (and how they might be leveraged),
  • tips on how to use these datasets effectively,
  • thoughts on what our institutions might provide to support this work now and in the future, and
  • other thoughts and considerations on what it means to find and use big data during COVID-19 and beyond.

Those with experience working with big data are encouraged to attend--all are welcome!

This event is limited to a maximum of 10 participants. There is also a waitlist for those who might not make the first 10.

Stay tuned for more Kitchen Table Talks!
