Kitchen Table Imagery [workshop #1]

Kitchen Table Imagery [workshop #1]

Bohemian National HallNew York, NY
Wednesday, Apr 1 from 5 pm to 6:30 pm
Overview

A family workshop with Czech artist Antonín Tomášek invites children and adults to design their own porcelain mug. Session 1 of 2.

This hands-on creative workshop for children and adults invites participants to design their own motif for a porcelain mug using prepared silkscreen sheets with colored fields and geometric shapes.

1 TICKET = 1 PORCELAIN MUG
After the workshop, the mugs will be taken for processing and kiln firing to permanently fix the design. Finished mugs will be ready for pickup at the Czech Center New York in approximately 1–2 weeks. We will notify participants by email as soon as they are ready.

Each person creating a mug needs a ticket (up to 6 tickets per order). Friends and family are welcome to join and help decorate—if you’re sharing a mug or accompanying someone, no ticket is needed.

The program is led by Czech artist and designer Antonín Tomášek, one of the leading contemporary creators working with ceramics and porcelain. His work bridges fine art, design, and pedagogy, and he has long been involved in the development and promotion of Czech porcelain. He heads the Ceramics Studio and serves as guarantor of the design program at the Faculty of Art and Design at Jan Evangelista Purkyně University in Ústí nad Labem. He lives and works between Prague, Ústí nad Labem, and Mexico City, and his work is represented in collections in the Czech Republic and abroad.

The workshop is part of the accompanying program for the exhibition Kitchen Table Imagery.
