About this event

Every June, we come together to honor Samaad's legacy during his birthday month and Gun Violence Awareness Month. King Maady Day is a time to celebrate Samaad's life and the positive impact he had on our community. It's also a moment to raise awareness about the ongoing issue of gun violence and to advocate for change.

Samaad was 19 years old when he lost his life to gun violence in Somerset, NJ on December 31, 2019. He was a 2018 graduate of Franklin High School, and an elite basketball player. At the time of his desth he was attending Kean University.
