Transition to Kindergarten Workshops is a stand-alone presentation in English and Spanish facilitated by one of the Family Engagement Specialists. These one-hour workshops are provided in person, via Zoom, or at partner locations such as Bridges or local libraries. Entering Kindergarten is an essential milestone in a child's academic journey, and parents/caregivers play a pivotal role in ensuring children can be ready to succeed. The presentation guides attendees on the registration process, developmental skills, the importance of attendance, how to support readiness during the Summer, and more.
Attendees will receive a Lakeshore Transition to K backpack with materials for children to practice essential skills during the month before Kindergarten. The bag includes a 3—month calendar filled with developmentally appropriate activities children can complete with their parents—all printed in English and Spanish. Plus, materials required to complete the activities—like colorful bears to sort and count, a ball for motor activities, a language-building book of nursery rhymes and more. The activities reinforce the basic skills from counting to letter recognition.
