About this event

Each writing workshop will focus on a different topic! Every workshop, Lee will share tips and answer questions, and she’ll also leave time for you to write. Please bring something to write on and write with. You are welcome to bring stories already in progress to work on. Each session is individual, so you can attend one, some, or all!

June 5th: Got Ideas? Learn How to Turn Your Imagination into a Story! We’ll talk both about what to do with ideas you have plus how to come up with ideas when you want to write but don’t know where to start.

June 12th: What Happens Next? Learn How to Plot Your Story. We’ll talk through how to plan out the beginning, middle, and end of your story.

June 19th: Making Friends and Enemies. Learn How to Create Characters for Your Story. We’ll talk about how to create characters that are different from each other and seem believable.

July 10th: Cool Places, Great Stuff. Learn Tips for Including Setting and Objects in Your Story. We’ll talk about how to bring setting and objects into your story in ways that add to the plot, show something about your characters, and set the tone.

July 31st: Say What? Learn Tips for Writing Dialogue. We’ll talk about how to make dialogue sound real and unique to each character.

Aug 7th: Get Unstuck! Learn New Things to Try When Writing Is Hard. We’ll talk about what to do when your story just doesn’t feel like it is working or when you can’t think of what to write next.

Please note that parents or guardians MUST stay within Lark & Owl Booksellers or the Alouette Bistro for the duration of each class.
