KiCad Boot Camp - (Open Source PCB Design Software)

NYC Resistor is a hacker collective with a shared space located in Boerum Hill, Brooklyn. We meet regularly to share knowledge, hack on projects together, and build community. Our interests range from laser-cutting to knitting, and programming to pop-up books.All NYC Resistor events are strictly 18+, and attendees are expected to abide by our Code of Conduct, which can be found at https://www.nycresistor.com/participate/.

KiCad is an amazing Open Source (free as in freedom!) program that allows you to design your own printed circuit board without arbitrary limitations on board size. KiCad offers an all-in-one solution:

Who should take this class?
This all-day workshop is tailored for the electronic enthusiast who has just started off using KiCad or wants to switch to it from other tools. Anool will quickly walk through a design from Schematic to Gerbers and answer your “how-to” questions.
What should I bring? 
Please bring a laptop, with <A HREF="http://www.kicad-pcb.org/download/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">KiCAD ver5</A> installed.
What else might you want to learn?
While this boot camp works as a stand-alone class, FreeCAD and KiCad have moved closer together recently, and now there's a nice framework available that connects the two. It allows us to design electronic components in FreeCAD, export them to KiCad such that they align perfectly with the KiCad footprints, re-export the finished KiCad PCB with all components as a CAD file so that we can design an enclosure for the electronics. ANOOL J M (MUMBAI, INDIA)
As a master of hardware design, Anool is the driving force behind WyoLum projects.  In his day job, he is an Electrical Engineer, working in the field of Test & Measurement at <A HREF="http://www.lumetron.com/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Lumetronics</A> in Mumbai. His interests range from Hacking, Origami, Astronomy, Photography and <A HREF="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w8OfxAGt4qw" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Cycling</A>. He is one of the founding duo of <A HREF="http://www.wyolum.com/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">WyoLum Emergents</A> – a global group of Open Hardware enthusiasts. Between all of his hobbies and cycling, he manages to design and build original Open Source hardware projects. He is also the co-founder of <A HREF="http://www.makersasylum.com/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Makers’ Asylum</A> – one of India’s first community driven Maker Spaces. Anool is a contributing writer for the technology blog <A HREF="https://hackaday.com/author/anool/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">HACKADAY</A> and finds time to write blog posts on hardware hacking. He lives in Mumbai with his wife – Samata and son – Hearsh.
