A special evening celebrating Poughkeepsie legend Joe McPhee (now world renowned for his inclusion on the soundtrack to the TV show Severance), featuring two sets: Ken Vandermark solo and Joe McPhee/PNL duo.

Vandermark's beautiful new solo CD, October Flowers for Joe McPhee, recorded at Corbett vs. Dempsey in Chicago, features a suite of compositions and improvisations inspired by McPhee's influential solo 1976 LP Tenor. Vandermark says he recorded it to give McPhee his flowers while he's around, and McPhee will demonstrate just how around he is in duets with one of his favorite drummers, PNL.

Related new releases include a 6-CD box set, The Bottle Tapes: Selections from the Empty Bottle Jazz & Improvised Music Series, 1996-2005, with essential McPhee included, as well as Defiant Jazz: A Joe McPhee Taster, the first LP sampler of McPhee's career.

An evening of hearth-like warmth and improvised intensity in the intimate environs of Out There, not to be missed!
