The recession displaced many workers, and now Baby Boomers are exiting the workforce at a rapid rate – there are not enough people entering the trades to meet the demands. From the pace of building, to the cost of construction, the prices of homes, the quality of our housing infrastructure—the skills gap is having a deep and far-reaching impact on our society. That’s whyFine Homebuilding®launched the #KeepCraftAlive® campaign – to leverage all our media resources and platforms to bring awareness to the problem and to help build towards a solution. What started as a campaign is now a movement.Fine Homebuilding® has partnered with industry organizations and influencers to surface skills training and educational opportunities and to fund student scholarships to support those who want to pursue a path in the trades. Most importantly, we have tapped our core content development capabilities and media platform reach to celebrate the value of true craftsmanship in all trades in order to influence the cultural narrative about what it means to be a respected, successful professional.

#KeepCraftAlive® Networking Event Organizer

As demand for housing rises, a shortage of qualified workers is hampering American homebuilders’ ability to grow their businesses to meet the country’s expanding housing needs.  This “skills gap” is real, and with relatively little new blood coming into the industry, the problem is forecasted to get worse as existing tradespeople age out of the workforce. 
In this panel discussion, a handful of high-end Colorado builders and Fine Homebuilding® brand ambassador John Hourihan will talk about the skills gap and what they and other builders can and have done to continue to grow their businesses in a tightening labor market.  Sponsored by some of the best brands in building and moderated by Fine Homebuilding®, this networking event takes place at Denver’s Tradecraft Industries, which was founded to help businesses grow and adjust to the construction market.  
Come support the cause and join us for the panel discussion, craft beer and some professional networking! This event is free with a suggested donation to support the #KeepCraftAlive® scholarship fund and cause.
