Join us at the brand new Two Dollar Radio Headquarters in Columbus, Ohio for a night a poetry featuring Sarah Kay, Clint Smith, Eve Ewing, and Hanif Abdurraqib.
BIOS:
Sarah Kay is the author of four books of poetry: No Matter the Wreckage, B, The Type, and All Our Wild Wonder (forthcoming). She is the founder and co-director of Project VOICE, an organization that brings spoken word poetry into schools and communities around the world. She has been invited to share her poetry on such diverse stages as the 2011 TED Conference; the Malthouse Theatre in Melbourne, Australia; the Royal Danish Theatre in Copenhagen, Denmark; and the United Nations and Carnegie Hall in New York City, among hundreds of other venues around the world.
Clint Smith is a doctoral candidate at Harvard University and has received fellowships from Cave Canem, the Callaloo Creative Writing Workshop, and the National Science Foundation. He is a 2014 National Poetry Slam champion and a recipient of the 2017 Jerome J. Shestack Prize from the American Poetry Review. His writing has been published in The New Yorker, The Atlantic, The Guardian, The New Republic, and numerous other publications. He is the author of Counting Descent (2016), which won the 2017 Literary Award for Best Poetry Book from the Black Caucus of the American Library Association and was a finalist for an NAACP Image Award. He was born and raised in New Orleans.
Eve L. Ewing is a writer, sociologist, visual artist, and educator from Chicago. She is the author of Electric Arches (Haymarket Books) and When the Bell Stops Ringing: Race, History, and Discourse amid Chicago's School Closures (University of Chicago Press, forthcoming 2018). She also co-wrote the multimedia performance No Blue Memories: The Life of Gwendolyn Brooks. Her work has been published in Poetry magazine, The New York Times, The New Republic, The Atlantic, The Nation, The FADER, the Washington Post, and many other venues. She is a sociologist of education at the University of Chicago School of Social Service Administration. She also co-directs Crescendo Literary (a partnership that develops community-engaged arts events and educational resources as a form of cultural organizing) and is one-half of the writing collective Echo Hotel, alongside Hanif Abdurraqib. 
Hanif Abdurraqib is from the east side of Columbus, Ohio.
