As organizations move to microservices it is important to have systems in place to stitch together these services into an application. In this talk, Karthik will present an introduction to microservices and how Heron was developed and used at Twitter to solve the real-time challenges of microservices architectures. 
He will discuss several features of Heron in conjunction with Pulsar to enable microservices. In addition, he will also elaborate on the the operational efficiencies of Heron and take questions from the audience if time permits.
Karthik Ramasamy is the co-founder of Streamlio that focuses on building next generation real time infrastructure. Before Streamlio, he was the engineering manager and technical lead for real-time infrastructure at Twitter where he co-created Twitter Heron. He has two decades of experience working in parallel databases, big data infrastructure, and networking. Karthik is the author of several publications, patents, and Network Routing: Algorithms, Protocols and Architectures. He has a Ph.D. in computer science from the University of Wisconsin, Madison with a focus on big data and databases.
