About this event

  • 1 day 8 hours

Join Michelle Worley and Nathan Croy as they guide you through navigating the path to becoming a post-graduate clinical supervisor. Utilizing an existential lens, participants will create their own unique roadmap for supervision that answers the questions, "Where am I, where do I want to go, and what direction am I heading". We believe that asking ourselves these questions at the start of your journey as clinical supervisor provides us with a richer experience and with a map of how to get back on track as needed.

Developed around both Kansas and Missouri clinical supervisor training requirements, participants of this training will lean into many topics including:

  • Models of supervision
  • Best practices in supervision
  • Kansas and Missouri MFT and LPC statutes & regulations
  • Creating your own personal philosophy of supervision
  • Structuring supervision
  • Creating a supervision contract
  • Logistics of Supervision (paperwork, documentation, etc.)

Significant time will also be spent learning to navigate the state licensure board websites so that you will be prepared to guide your post-grad supervisees along the way. Each participant will receive a thorough electronic supervison manual with sample documents of many of the forms you will use with supervisees along with FAQ's and other helpful tools pertinent to the practice of supervision.

About Your Trainers:

  • Michelle Worley is a Licensed Clinical Marriage and Family Therapist and AAMFT Designated Supervisor and the owner of Great Oaks Therapy Center. She has dedicated much of her career to training new therapists in the pursuit of clinical licensure and development of their own private practices. In her clinical practice, Michelle is primarily oriented to Internal Family Systems theory and incorporates that in both her clinical practice of therapy and in her supervision practice. For those who find the Enneagram helpful, Michelle is a proud "7" and calls upon many strengths in that to bring lighthearted energy into the training space. You can learn more about Michelle here: www.greatoakstherapy.com
  • Michelle is honored to be joined by Nathan Croy, fellow Licensed Clinical Marriage and Family Therapist, Clinical Supervisor and Owner of Existential Family Therapy. Nathan's existential lens of supervision brings a richness to the conversation around supervision that will both challenge and motivate attendees. A note to participants:

Kansas has fully approved this training as meeting the full training requirements to become a Kansas Board-Approved Clinical Supervisor for both MFT's and LPC's.

Although Missouri will not pre-approve trainings, they have approved this training previously with other MFT and LPC attendees. If you have any questions about this, please do not hestitate to reach out!

Schedule for the event is 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM both Friday, May 3 and Saturday, May 4, 2024. There will be a 60-minute lunch break and two 15-minute breaks offered daily.

All registrees will receive an electronic supervision manual as described above. Please register by April 29, 2024 to ensure receipt of manual prior to the training dates.

Cost of the two-day training is $850 which includes both training days and supervision manual. Additionally, attendees who complete the training will be invited to join a supervisor support Facebook group that is only for those who have completed this training. As needed, attendees may request a payment plan for the cost of the training. Additional fees may apply depending upon method of payment.

A note for MFT's: this training does not meet the requirements for becoming a AAMFT-Approved Supervisor. That training is only available through AAMFT. This training intentionally meets the requirements for both Kansas and Missouri MFT and LPC supervision. Michelle completed the AAMFT Approved Supervisor course in 2015 and, while very happy that she did, realized quickly that it does not address (understandably so) the state level nuances like state statutes and regulations, state-specific paperwork, state specific ratios of supervision to clinical work, etc. After completing the AAMFT designation training, Michelle left with many unanswered questions. When creating this training, Michelle intentionally worked to fill in the missing pieces as much as possible so people hopefully don’t leave with as many questions as she did.
