Description

We have been invited to a homestay with the Girl Guides of Cambodia Organisation at a small village just outside of Kampot.

This village is a small local community about 20 minutes from the small main river town of Kampot which grows mainly rice. Even though the village is nearby Kampot functions very much like a rural community. Girl Guides Cambodia is a twenty-year-old organization and has been led locally in this village for many years. The organization is motivated to keep young girls in school and help them find leadership roles within their home, school, and community. We will also be visiting nearby Kampot Province.

Schedule:

Day One

8:00am- 11:30am: Leave Phnom Penh by bus to Kampot Province

11:30am -2:00pm: Take tuk-tuk from town to Orndoung Khmer Village (20 mins)

(homestay with Girl Guides leader)

  • Lunch in the community

2:30pm-4:30pm: Meeting with Girl Guide Unit (girls ages 7 to 17-year-old)
(teaching craft, painting and learning about the organization)

6:30pm -9:30pm: Casual city tour to see the cute little town of Kampot, we can choose to take boat on river to see the local fireflies swarms.

(the group can decide on whether we would like to eat in the local village or Kampot)

Day Two

7:30am: Breakfast in Kampot at bakery

8:30am-12pm: Visit a cave and Pepper farm on the way to Kep and have lunch at Kep crab market.
