More about Kalda
Kalda is the mental wellbeing platform for the LGBTQIA+ community 🏳️🌈. You can learn more about us here. This session will be a taster to show what Kalda offers.
Session Agenda
You will be welcomed to the session and to the meditation. Uz Afzal, the Kalda mindfulness teacher will lead the group in a short guided meditation. There will be an opportunity to share reflection on the meditation, for those who feel comfortable doing so. There will also be a sharing circle, where any member of the group can share what's on their mind. We will end on intention setting for the week.
All activities are invitational, you are free to share as much as you feel comfortable and participate to the level that you feel comfortable. We encourage you to have your camera on for the safety of the group.
How should I prepare?
Find a private space where you won’t be disturbed. Make sure you are able to access Zoom from the device that you’re on.
Can I be anonymous?
Because we connect to the session over Zoom, to be anonymous you’ll need to change your Zoom display name. We recommend that people keep their camera on, so that participants can get a sense of safety.
How will the session help?
Whether you are experienced with mindfulness or not, you'll learn and practice techniques in a safe space that are proven to relax the body and the mind. Sharing with like minded people also has a positive impact on your mental health.
What is th group contract?
1. We connect to the session from a private, quiet space.
2. We keep everything that is said in the group confidential. Don’t share something that someone shares with you in the break out room with the wider group.
3. We practice with flexibility. If you need to take a break or not fully partake in an exercise that feels uncomfortable, that’s fine.
4. We listen to others and to ourselves without judgement. We respect and care for everyone in the group.
5. We keep our cameras-on, and faces seen during the session, so that everyone can feel safe knowing who’s in the space.
6. We don’t consume recreational drugs or alcohol during the session.
