Question 1

What to wear?

Closed toed shoes are required. You will need a long sleeve shirt, long pants, hat for sun protection, good hiking boots or outdoor shoes (no slippers), and raingear if the weather calls for it.

What else should I bring?

Accepted Answer

Be prepared for the heat, which builds up after 9 AM. Pack plenty of water (at least 2 quarts) and energy snacks. Sunscreen. Hiking sticks (optional). For early morning hikers, please bring a headlamp or flashlight. Some folks like to bring gloves just in case, however gloves are optional.

Will there be breaks?

For the guided hikes on Saturday, the hike guide and sweep will assess the groups speed and will take periodic breaks for water and rest. For the self-guided hikes on Sunday you may go at your own speed.

Can children participate?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Children under the age of 18 are welcome to participate with their parent or legal guardian participating and their consent. Everyone is different, we leave the parents or legal guardians to be the judge of their child's hiking capability and stamina. Please email with additional questions.

Are dogs allowed on the hikes?

No.

Where do I park?

Accepted Answer

Please carpool if possible. Parking is available in an vacant field on the right-hand side adjacent to the trail head at 1298 Mokuhano Street. Please be quiet and respectful coming and going from your vehicles as the trail head is situated within a quiet residential community.

Question 7

Are there restrooms available?

Accepted Answer

There are port-a-potties at the trail head, but once you start there are no restrooms available on the trail.
