Join us for an exclusive insight into the Danbury Police Department's renowned K9 program at our K9 and Wine Time Fundraiser event! Delve into the intricacies of this special K9 unit while you relax and savor the serene surroundings of Aquila’s Nest Vineyards.
During this fundraising event, Sergeant Alex Relyea will guide you through the comprehensive knowledge about the K9 program. He'll commence with an overview of the program, highlighting the rigorous selection process for officers and explaining its indispensable role within the Police Department. He'll delve into the specialized disciplines of their canine partners, including tracking/trailing, narcotics detection, apprehension, and handler protection, as well as their invaluable skill in article recovery.
You'll have the opportunity to hear about the training protocols and certification requirements necessary for the PD's K9 teams to excel in their duties. Sergeant Relyea will showcase various gear and training aids utilized in the program, alongside the protective vests essential for the dogs' safety in the line of duty. Additionally, he'll discuss the provision of first aid kits, the financial aspects of the program, and the allocation of donation funds to support the K9 unit endeavors.
As you unwind amidst the vineyard's beauty, ample time will be allocated for questions. Guests often inquire about the canine partners' daily lives, their interactions with families and children, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation for the vital role these remarkable animals play in our community.
This event is open to all ages. Children will need a ticket, too.
Plan to arrive 15 minutes before your event starts and check in at the indoor winery tasting room to make your winery drink purchase. Aquila’s Nest has many non-alcoholic options.
Outside Alcohol Beverages, Water Bottles or Any Other Beverages are NOT allowed to be brought in the premises of the vineyard. This is a restriction of our Farm Winery Permit. Our staff reserves the right to check bags and coolers. 100% of ticket sales will be donated to the Danbury Police Department's K9 unit.
