Junior Geocacher Workshop EVENT CANCELLED

Friends of Government Canyon is made up of a growing group of active volunteers who take pride in the work we do — from grooming trails to facilitating education programs to advocating the protection of the Aquifer and numerous resources found within the boundaries of the Natural Area. We are hikers, naturalists, artists, mountain bikers, runners, researchers, clean water advocates and in general, lovers of the outdoors with one common mission; protecting and preserving the Natural Area.

Friends of Government Canyon

Join the Friends of Government Canyon for a child oriented class on Geocaching basics.  Children and their accompanying adult will learn all of the needed skills to begin geocaching on their own.  Participants will receive a Junior Geocaching certificate and badge at the end of the session. This is a skills development workshop and will include seeking temporary caches. Program will be held rain or shine!
Who is Invited
Open to ages 4 – 10; minors must be accompanied by a legal guardian.  Please, no more than 3 children per adult.
Registration & Fees
Registration required for EACH child aged 4-10. Adults need NOT register. Sorry, no group registrations. Natural Area entry <A HREF="http://tpwd.texas.gov/state-parks/government-canyon/fees-facilities/entrance-fees" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">fees</A> apply; stop at the Entrance Fee Booth to self-pay/register.
When & Where to Meet
Arrive by 7:45. Meet in the Exhibit Gallery next to the Visitor’s Center.  Plan ahead, as the Natural Area often experiences heavy visitation and wait time at the fee booth.    
What to Wear & Bring
Dress appropriately for the weather as the program will be held in an open-air building with no air conditioning.  Wear shoes appropriate for a short walk along a paved trail.  Sunscreen and hats are recommended.  You may bring drinks and snacks to enjoy at one of the various picnic tables outside when the program is finished.
Requirements
Group size is limited to 20. No pets please. Minors must be accompanied by a legal guardian. Adults must stay for the duration of the program.  To reduce human impact on the Natural Area, please follow the Leave No Trace principles of outdoor ethics.
